Pocosin Arts Offering Great Workshop for Beginning Metals Smiths and one for tonight in Wood

Audrey will be teaching the next class in our popular series of Friday night classes and in the span of 2 hours participants will learn to shape wood pieces to make a pair of earrings or a brooch.  This material is beautiful, lightweight and perfect for making jewelry.  Experimentation and play with surface decoration and color will be the final step to completing beautiful, one-of-a-kind jewelry.

September 6-8th, three-day workshop
Class fee $295 + material & studio fee

This class will teach the basic principles and techniques of forging metal into controlled forms. Students will hammer-forge and take home a set of several copper sample forms that will serve as a visual library of skills learned. Then students will make a bracelet project incorporating several forging principles. Students may do a second or third project of their choosing if time allows. The class will cover safety, tool etiquette and maintenance with some finishing shortcuts. There will be a demonstration on how to customize tools. Students will then do one minor alteration and repair one hammer using motorized finishing equipment.
