"Hard-Wear: Steel Enameling Decal Workshop"
A Jewelry and Enameling workshop with visiting artist Tara Locklear will be held on April 13 and 14, 2013 Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm at the College of The Albemarle Jewelry studio located in the Professional Arts Building of the COA Roanoke Island campus.
In this weekend workshop, learn how to make your own custom color ceramic decals and how to enamel and fire decals on lightweight steel. This Enameling and Metalsmithing course will enable students to incorporate a variety of images in their jewelry and enamelwork.
Tara Locklear received her BFA from East Carolina University. Material investigation is a driving force in her work. She maintains a studio in Raleigh, NC. Her work has been shown in Monochrome Noir at Velvet da Vinci Gallery in San Francisco, the Costume Costume Part II an Invitational Opulent Project exhibition at Sienna Gallery, Alchemy – the 13th annual Biennial International Juried Enamel traveling Exhibition l at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Craft in Gatlinburg, TN, the Knoxville Museum of Art in Knoxville, TN and the Metals Museum, Memphis, TN and the 23rd annual 2012 Materials Hard and Soft at The Meadows Gallery, located in the Center for the Visual Arts, Denton, Texas.
