We had a wonderful, though small, guild meeting at Dianne's house yesterday. For those of you who were off at shows, I hope they were successful for you. The group shared work we had done on our own and at workshops. We talked about holding a "Guild Exhibit" based on a theme or doing an item (like a spoon) in our unique style. Dianne said she would talk with the Dare Arts Council about maybe hosting it. Finally, Jennifer demonstrated how she etched using concentrated salt solution and a battery charger at the meeting. Definitely something I'm going to experiment with so I don't have to use ferric chloride.
The guild won't be meeting again until the new year. I'll be going through withdrawal over the holidays, but January is going to be a busy month for us. Here's the upcoming schedule for January:
Jan. 5 (Sat) - Guild meeting
Time: 10 AM - 4 PM
Place: COA (pending Kathryn's OK)
Demonstration: Tricks and techniques learned at Jayne Redman workshops (Georgia Griffith & Joanne Lang (& Hilary Anderson?))
Jan. 18 - 20 (Fri, Sat, Sun) - ECU Metals Symposium (see their blog at www.ecusymposium.wordpress.com) Guild member Kathryn Osgood will be one of the presenters
Jan. 26 (Sat) - Steel wire workshop by Steven Russell (ECU grad student)
Time: TBA - 3 hours long
Place: Pocosin Folk Arts School
Cost: Free
Hope you can come to the January meeting!
Joanne

I plan on coming to the meeting on the 5th, so count me in on the demo. Also, I am into making a spoon (or something) for a group exhibit. Sounds like y'all had a good meeting! Thanks for the post, Joanne.
