Marlene states that there will be a $50.00 or less
studio materials fee in addition to the course cost.
While she did not know more information about the
type of files needed, Marlene did send a request to Megan for more information. Marlene provided great information metals and
pitch with links to vendors.
She states that As for metal I also gathered
from her book that 20-22 Ga copper or sterling silver are a good choice.
Fine silver is nice too but there is an issue with it being so soft and
you do not get the sharp details that you would with sterling. It sounds
like it is just a personal preference.
I
thought I would include this information also - someone asked about pitch and
while Megan did not specify, I did a little reading in her book and these are
the recommendations that she makes in her book for pitch related to jewelry
making.
German
Red pitch is a good choice or Northwest Pitchworks Pitch (medium hardness)
I checked around and Contenti seems to have the best deal - I think that
is where I got mine a long time ago. Also for jewelry you will not need a
huge pitch bowl, I think a 5 or 7 inch diameter bowl should be fine. I
have included links to Contenti and the products I am talking about and
Northwest Pitchworks.

Who is planning on taking Megan's workshop?
ReplyDeleteI've already signed up. Joanne
ReplyDeleteSorry ladies, but I not planning on attending.
ReplyDeleteI am at the point planning on attending. I have read her book and if she is as organized in her workshop as she is in the book, I will learn a lot. Annemarie, it will not be as much fun without you. I know the class is very expensive and since the classes are so much this will be the only one I take at Pocosin.
ReplyDeleteI would love to take this! But unfortunately, I will not be taking many workshops this year. I'm buying a dust collector for my studio so that is where I'm dropping a lot of my funds. This looks like a great workshop!
ReplyDeleteWell, huh...I will not be able to take the workshop after all. It was more than I should spend at this time. I didn't want to face that fact. Then here is this young one doing what is right. Arn't the elders suppose to have wisdom?
ReplyDeleteGod helped me out and the annual Children's Mission Day for Eastern North Carolina will be held at Edenton Baptist Church this year. I was asked to lead a session working with children to create a mural. And as a Co-Director of the WMU for Edenton Baptist I needed and wanted to a part of the day.
I know all those who are attending will learn so much and have a great time doing it.
Blessings, Dianne
