March meeting

Even though Pocosin has a pottery workshop the first Saturday in March, I think we should still try to meet that day. Hilary mentionned that we could do the business portion of the meeting upstairs. For the program, I'd like everyone bring their latest project or one they are working on so people can give feedback. Also, Valda wanted people to bring their pieces from Kathryn's last color workshop (especially the resin pieces). I'm working on a location to do the soldering demo of using Krazy Glue and tracing paper to hold multiple metal pieces together to solder at once (the tip Michael Dale Bernard dropped at the ECU metal symposium). I also have some project ideas for everyone interested to participate. Let me know if anyone else has any ideas or comments.

  1. It sounds good to me. Have you had an assurance from Hilary that we meet upstairs? While I did not do the workshop with Kathryn on color. I will bring something I have been working on.

Thanks for working on this for us!

  2. Yes, the upstairs is available for the guild to meet. I have family coming to town on Saturday, and I think I will be there for the meeting, but I'm not entirely sure.

  3. Thanks, Hilary, for working on this for us. So the GUILD IS MEETING ON SATURDAY, MARCH 5 at the Pocosin Folk Arts School. We'll be meeting upstairs but Marlene has told me that we can use the metals studio for a soldering demo/experiment I want to try. If people want to use the middle table for work, I just need to let her know in advance. At this point, guild members need to bring their own tools to use. I'm going to be attending the pottery workshop that weekend so I won't be staying to work.

  4. Hey, Joanne,

Can you give a little more info on the demo?

  5. Oh,no! I am the decoration sub-committee chair for our church's Mardi Gras celebration and the only time we could get in to decorate is Saturday morning. So, I will not be able to attend the meeting. I thought that I would join you later during work time. Please post if you are staying to work. Blessings, Dianne

  6. Due to a cancellation of the pottery workshop, the Guild will meet in the usual space, the clay/mixed media studio, this Saturday (tomorrow, March 5th). I'm staying to work, but I will probably leave around 3pm. I'm looking forward to the meeting and doing some work!

  9. Great meeting that included lots of sharing of current projects,as well as ideas and comments from Cabin Fever Reliever.
Sorry the solding experiment didn't work as planned. I wonder if Super GLue is the answer?
Also, I had mentioned a new non-toxic and low or no ordor resin - the website is ResinObsession.com. Hope that helps you avoid possible unwanted sites.

  10. It was good to be with you all even for half of the meeting. Your energy and drive were great to be a part of, I am looking forward to the "hammer or hammer like project."
I appreciate so much the role Joanne played to moving our meeting forward. The tracing paper and supper-glue trick has made me very curious. I think I will try it at home.
