March Meeting

Hello Fellow Metal Heads,

The Pocosin Arts Metals Guild will meet on March 6, 2010 at the Pocosin Arts Folk School in Columbia.  We will meet at 10:00 am with a short business meeting.  And then we make stuff.
I am going to bring my DVD on fold forming for anyone who would like to view it.  Bruce has a beautiful fold-formed piece in the show.  Maybe we can entice him to do a demonstration?

Have a bench trick or work to share?  Bring it with you.

Don't forget to bring your lunch and a drink.

  1. Wondering about flux, pickle, liver of sulfur - are we purchasing or donating, wasn't sure if it had been talked about yet.

Look forward to teh DVD and hoping Bruce will consider a demo!

  2. Looking forward to my first guild meeting and seeing everyone. I'll have my tools, but, like Lin, I don't have soldering supplies that she listed. Someone please bring them and I would be glad to reimburse. It would be good to use the dues for shared tools and supplies. Also, Dianne, can you bring your nickel wire you were talking about at Cabin Fever? My project for this Saturday is to make pin backs for the work I did at the enameling workshop. Thanks.

  4. From Bruce: I thought I would bring a few pieces for folks to look at and see what I am working on and to see what some different techniques look like . Then I thought I would demo A couple of things people could start with if they were interested, then I could help and answer questions. How does that sound ? I am using a torch ,various hammers a big vice and a bucket of water. I am working with 22 ga. copper. Anybody who wanted to try some of this should bring any of these things that they have . I will share and help any way I can. Please remember I am not an expert and a lot of this is just try it, but it's lots of fun. Call me if you have any questions, I do use anything that comes to hand hammers ,pliers ,steel blocks, screw drivers anything to pry metal open with and on and on. Bruce

  5. I sent an email and asked if I should encourage everyone to bring their own hammers, pliers, 22 ga copper sheet, and steel blocks. Bruce said yes so here is your reminder.
